Joining us for a chat today is Raven Jones, lead guitarist from the Brissy band Glasshouse.
BrisbaneMusic : Hi Raven, thanks for joining us, first of all, tell us a little about the band. What’s the story behind the name ‘Glasshouse’?
Raven Jones : We grow up in glasshouses, we were part of a biological experiment conducted by clandestine organisations.
BM : That must have been a tough childhood. You guys just finished up your ‘Tour Of Mass Destruction’ on Feb 16th.Can you tell us a bit more about that?
RJ : We played in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Toowoomba. The response keeps getting better with each tour; we had great fun hanging out with The Inches in Melbourne and City Riots in Brisbane. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour; also Melbourne is a great city to visit.

We sat down with Tone Porno, singer/ songwriter and guitarist of the Brisbane two piece Sonic Porno for a Saturday morning cuppa and some interrogation about the band. Here’s what he had to say.
BrisbaneMusic : Hi Tone and welcome to BrisbaneMusic.com
Tone Porno : Thanks for having me.
BM : First of all, tell us a little about the band. What’s the lineup?
TP : The lineup is Rob Sonic on drums and Tone Porno on guitar/vox
BM : So, right off the bat.. why the name Sonic Porno?
TP : Sonic Pornography was the name of an album I released as Alien Punk…it was a prodigy-esque breaks/guitar project of mine….whilst trying to come up with a name for the band, my wife was lookin for the CD and asked me if I had seen the Sonic Porno, it sounded great as an abbreviated name so I pitched it to Robbie and he loved it….the name is the concept that music is pornography for the ears, as opposed to traditional porno which is for the eyes and vagina.

from Wired
Three digital music veterans have launched a stealth startup and are close to unveiling both a new portable media player and what they’re calling an “internet radio ecosystem,” Wired News has learned.
San Diego-based Broadband Instruments’ co-founders Jim Cady, Dennis Mudd and Jonathan Sasse have all led digital music companies in the past. Cady ran Diamond Multimedia when it released one of the first MP3 players in the United States, the Rio 300, in 1998. Mudd was CEO of Musicmatch, an online music service acquired by Yahoo for $160 million in 2004. Until October, Sasse was chief executive of iriver America, whose line of MP3 players has built a relatively small but devoted following.
Capitalizing on their involvement in earlier generations of digital music devices and services and using what they learned the first time around, they’re building a portable player they hope will be the first major step forward in the category since Apple released the iPod.

Wolfmother have beaten Tool, System Of A Down and Nine Inch Nails to take out the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance
But when Robbie caught up with Miles just hours after the announcement, he found out it was the band Buckcherry who had stepped up as the toughest competition.
“We walked down the red carpet. One of the interviewers was like, oh Buck Cherry came through and they reckon they’re gonna take out the award and they were trying to get a fight started between us. To be honest I’ve never actually heard them before. I wouldn’t even know what they look like.”
You probably don’t either. And trust me, that’s a good thing.
Wolfmother will be home for a triumphant national tour at the end of March.
