On the Fly presents Australia with a slice of New York’s finest, mash-up musical junkie, Kingdom, this May 2010.
Flown over from the US of A, Kingdom, will perform at Melbourne’s Scatterblog party, in Sydney, Brisbane, and more, full details below.
His debut single, ‘Mind Reader’, catapulted Kingdom in the limelight. It includes his signature sound - heavy bass combined with female vocals, and resulted in Fools Gold adding him to their, already impressive, roster. Described as “a Brooklyn take on the UK garage sound”, he plays everything from bass laden riffs to latin and tropical beats, and his ‘first-love’ - R&B.
He’s a tastemaker as well as an artist …
London-based blog, Lower End Spasm, said - “The genres Kingdom dips into range across the board, but his mixes create within themselves a new logic, a gutter house aesthetic that just makes sense.”
Brooklyn-based, Kingdom’s fans include the mighty Annie Mac (BBC Radio One), Nick Catchdubs, Diplo and many more. His popularity is snowballing, worldwide, - just this January he co-headlined the Fool’s Gold arena at Fabric, London.
Trendsetter’s Discobelle described Kingdom as - “one of (their) favourite producers/DJs”, and requested an exclusive mix for the Discobelle blog.
Founded by Nick Catchdubs and A-Trak, Fool’s Gold, is home to Duck Sauce, Kid Sister, Kid Cudi, Australia’s own Bag Raiders and more. Fools Gold’s bio describes the label as “just friends putting out each other’s music” – they’re a family of artists that blend together to create brilliant and innovative tuneage.
