Internationally renowned Brisbane group deepblue will perform a string of shows at the Woodford Folk Festival from 28th Dec through to the 1st Jan, entertaining audiences at the Amphitheatre stage each evening at dusk.
deepblue are an innovative orchestral experience that incorporates electronic musicians into a fully mobile string section. Their high-energy performances include repertoire from artists as diverse as Muse, David Bowie and Samuel Barber as well as genre-hopping original compositions written from within the group.
“…Innovative and dynamic, deepblue are like travelling minstrels, moving through the crowd; strumming, plucking and chatting, engaging on all levels…” Marika Bryant Artshub
“Those who prefer their music straight, pure and unadulterated should stay away, but for the rest, this is fun-embracing e philosophy ntertainment that all ages can enjoy…” Gillian Bramley-Moore Courier Mail
deepblue combines the atmosphere of a club with the rich sound of an orchestra and the stage presence of a rock band. There’s no conductor, no music stands and no stuffy outdated rules.
The deepblue show is all about entertaining the audience and this was proven at this year’s APACA Conference when deepblue took out the 2009 APACA Drover Award for ‘Excellent Audience Response’
These shows will cap off an amazing year for deepblue, the group performed to thousands of people around Australia, traveled to Malaysia and sold out multiple shows in their hometown of Brisbane.
