To celebrate The Who’s 2009 Australian Tour
Globe Theatre presents a Psychedeclic Cult Rock Double of The Who’s Tommy and The Rolling Stones’ Rock N Roll Circus on Thursday 5th March at 220 Brunswick St Fortitude Valley.
The Who’s successful rock musical Tommy (1975) (M) was brought to the big screen by Ken Russell in 1975 and stars Ann-Margret in an Academy Award-nominated role.
Featuring the hit songs Acid Queen and Pinball Wizard, Tommy tells the story of a deaf, dumb and blind man that goes on to become a pinball champion.
Tommy is filled with memorable cameos by such big names as Tina Turner, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Jack Nicholson.
“Surreal imagery and fantastic music combine to make Tommy one of the most bizarre films ever made,” said Kristian Fletcher, Globe Theatre’s film programmer.
“Tommy returns to the big screen where it belongs”.
Filmed in December 1968 over two big nights, Rock N Roll Circus (M) was a variety television special featuring not only performances by The Rolling Stones but The Who, Jethro Tull and Marianne Faithful. Don’t miss an all-star jam featuring John Lennon, Eric Clapton and Keith Richards!
Hear live versions of The Rolling Stones’ classics Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Sympathy For The Devil and many more.
