The Tiger & Me are architects of singalong goodtimes, dark-edged pop-leaning folk and side-leering swagger. Their feverish live shows wring the full gamut of emotion from their audiences as frenzy gives way to restraint and menace becomes charm.
Their debut album, ‘From a Liar to a Thief’, released in April 2010, won praise from audiences and critics alike. Come 2011 and with a ground-swell of anticipation thanks to notable appearances at Port Fairy Folk Festival, The Apollo Bay Music Festival, The Falls Festival and The Hills Are Alive, the excitement for new material is palpable; thankfully The Tiger & Me have just the tonic, three doses of it in fact.
On July 9 at Melbourne’s The Toff in Town, The Tiger & Me launch The Howling Fire, the first of a series of three EPs. The separate releases explore a descent into madness, the ensuing struggle, and ultimate embrace of insanity. Produced by Myles Mumford, the new recordings represent an organic evolution for the band, infusing more indie and classic pop influences into their signature sound.
The Howling Fire tour starts this Saturday the 9th of July at Melbourne’s The Toff in Town.
